Se ha estudiado tambien la regulacion celular de la amidasa lyta en neumococo y se ha observado que esta se sintetiza constitutivamente y se localiza, mediante tecnicas inmunocitoquimicas, preferentemente en la region del septo de la celula. En e. Coli el 80% de la amidasa lyta se transloca a traves de la membrana citoplasmica sin sufrir aparentemente ningun procesamiento. Para conocer un poco mejor la relacion estructura-funcion en la molecula lyta se han construido enzimas quimericas funcionales entre la amidasa lyta y las lisozimas cpli y cpl7, demostrandose experimentalmente la hipotesis que postulaba la organizacion modular de estas enzimas.
