La estimacion de q puede llevarse a cabo eficazmente analizando el decaimiento de las ondas de coda, si bien la adopcion de modelos de dispersion sencilla permite estimar el valor medio de q para una zona determinada pero no capacita para diferenciar las contribuciones de la absorcion y de la dispersion. Para conseguir esta distincion es necesario introducir hipotesis mas realistas y utilizar un analisis matematico mas complejo. En esta tesis se ha logrado dicho objetivo mediante un metodo basado en la teoria de transferencia radiativa desarrollada en astrofisica. Previamente a su aplicacion a la zona de estudio -sureste de la peninsula iberica y mar de alboran- se ha realizado una estimacion de q bajo la hipotesis de dispersion sencilla. El empleo de la transferencia radiativa ha puesto de relieve la preponderancia de la dispersion en la transmision de las ondas sismicas en esta zona. Los valores obtenidos para el albedo y la longitud de extincion del medio, que permiten afirmar la existencia de un gran numero de dispersores, son coherentes con el elevado numero de fallas presentes
