Los espectros de biomasa en estos dos sistemas se caracterizan por su bimodalidad, acumulandose los valores maximos de biomasa en clases de tama\u00f1o extremas, lo que permite la caida de biomasa en clases centrales. Este hecho puede considerarse caracteristico de masas de agua dulce, dada la mayor continuidad que presentan los espectros en sistemas marinos.  se propone la utilidad de considerar escalas de interpretacion de la estructura de tama\u00f1os que afectan a subgrupos homogeneos. Este tipo de escala, caracterizada como secundaria o ecologica, permite aumentar el caracter predictivo de los modelos alometricos basados en el tama\u00f1o de los organismos, asi como interpretar la heterogeneidad espacial a traves de la interaccion de estos subgrupos en regiones diferentes de la columna de agua. Finalmente se discute acerca de los diferentes mecanismos de acoplamiento entre los subsistemas definidos verticalmente.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
