Cuando el espacio ambiente es la esfera o el espacio hiperbolico, el resultado principal caracteriza a las hipersuperficies de tipo dos como aquellas con curvatura media constante no nula y curvatura escalar constante, lo que resuelve el problema abierto propuesto por b.Y. Chen.  el objetivo del capitulo 2 consiste en caracterizar las hipersuperficies euclideas que satisfacen la ecuacion ah=landah, para un numero real landa, siendo h el campo de vectores curvatura media. Con la hipotesis adicional de que la hipersuperficie tenga a lo mas 2 curvaturas principales distintas, se prueba que las esferas y los cilindros generalizados son las unicas hipersuperficies euclideas no minimales que satisfacen la ecuacion anterior.  finalmente el tercer capitulo aborda el mismo problema cuando el espacio ambiente es el espacio de
