Para estudiar el efecto de los cambios del phi sobre el cai2+ se utilizaron celulas musculares lisas vasculares de la aorta de rata cultivafdas en cubreobjetos. El cai2+ se midio con fura-2 y el phi con bcecf. La exposicion de 20 mm de c1nh4, origino un aumento del phi acompa\u00f1ado de un incremento del cai2+ que tambien se produjo en ausencia de ca2+ extracelular. El bloqueo del reticulo sarcoplasmico con tmb-8 y la deplecion previa con avp inhibieron la respuesca del cai2+ a la alcalosis. En ausencia de na+ extracelular el incremento de cai2+ se vio megnificado. El lavado del c1nh4 produjo una disminucion del phi que se acompa\u00f1o de aumento del cai2+ y no se modifico en ausencia de calcio extracelular ni tras el bloqueo con tmb-8 o la deplecion con avp. La omision de na+ amplifico la respuesta. Estos resultados demustran que los cambios agudos del phi en ambas direcciones incrementan el cai2+. Mientras que la alcalosis libera ca2+ del reticulo sarcoplasmico, la acidosis lo hace de otro reservorio donde compiten h+ y ca2+.
