El primero esta formado por 54 pacientes adultos, elegidos consecutivamente que fueran a ser sometidos a intervencion quirurgica calificada de grado medio o superior. Se califican como intervenciones quirurgicas de grado medio aquellas de rango superior a la colecistectomia simple tales como la gastrectomia parcial o la colectomia segmentaria. Las consideradas de rango superior son las de entidad mas importante a las descritas.  a estos pacientes se les midieron antes de la intervencion quirurgica una serie de parametros nutricionales antropometricos, bioquimicos e inmunologicos y se computaron igualmente otras variables cuantitativas y cualitativas. Desde el postoperatorio inmediato hasta el momento de su alta hospitalaria se controlaron rigurosamente ciertas complicaciones. De los 54 pacientes 22 presentaron alguna complicacion. Con todos los parametros y variables medidas y teniendo en cuenta la variable dicotomica \u00abcomplicacion\u00bb se elaboro una ecuacion de prediccion obtenida mediante un programa de regresion logistica.
