Para cada una de las especies estudiadas se presenta una detallada descripcion de los caracteres morfologicos, estructurales y reproductores, aportandose datos sobre su habitat, fenolog\u00eda, material estudiado, corolog\u00eda insular y mundial, referencias anteriores para canarias y una breve discusion en cada caso. Ademas se presenta una amplia iconografia original de 430 dibujos y 12 laminas fotograficas con el habito y los caracteres taxonomicos de cada una de las especies estudiadas. 13 de estas especies son nuevas citas para las islas canarias y para otras 15 se amplia su corolog\u00eda insular. Se describen por primera vez en diplothamnion jolyi las estructuras reproductoras sexuales, en antithamnion diminuatum los tetrasporofitos; en ceramium ciliatum los espermatangioforos; en ceramium rubrum carposporofitos y tetrasporangios en un mismo pie de planta; en spyridia filamentosa, ceramium flabelligerum y diplothamnion jolyi monoecia.
