El trabajo esta dividido en dos partes, correspondiente a un estudio de caracter cronologico y otro de caracter ideologico. En la primera parte se estudia la trayectoria de pedro de Valencia desde sus primeros a\u00f1os de estudio con francisco sanchez de las broza en la universidad de salamanca hasta el periodo de discipulado con arias montano. Tras la muerte de este ultimo se estudian su estancia en zafra hasta 1607 y su posterior y definitivo asentamiento en la corte como cronista real, con las relaciones que alli mantuvo con distintos circulos intelectuales.
