La secuencia sintetica, que parte del acido abietico, emplea como etapa clave la transposicion de una epoxilactona preparada por reaccion de una podocarpenona con un peracido.  tambien se ha preparado el (-)-borjatriol, un 8,13-epoxilabdano aislado de \u00absideritis mugronensis\u00bb. La sintesis enantioselectiva utiliza como producto de una expsicetona derivada del acido abietico. La etapa clave es la ciclacion intramolecular por ataque de un grupo hidroxilo sobre un epoxialcohol generado de la epoxidacion de sharpless de un doble enlace con un hidroxilo alilico, con formacion del anillo piranico y formacion estereoselectiva de los centros asimetricos en torno al anillo c del borjatriol.  esta es la primera sintesis del (-)-borjatriol y constituye una confirmacion sintetica de la configuracion absoluta del mismo.  finalmente, se ha sintetizado un precursos opticamente activo de la 1,9-dideoxiforskolina, otro 8,13-epoxilabdano aislado de \u00abcoleus forskilii\u00bb, mediante una secuencia estereoselectiva iniciada con una transposicion oxidativa de un grupo hidroxilo terciario generado por adicion de un alquil litio al producto de ozonolisis de un derivado del
