Esta critica se fundamenta en las corrientes actuales de la filosofia de la ciencia sobre la naturaleza de la misma y de sus procedimientos y en ella se demuestra de manera fehaciente la existencia de una imagen empirista de trabajo cientifico en la mayor parte de estudiantes, profesores y textos que participan en aquellas ense\u00f1anzas.  asimismo, se ha presentado de manera consistente con los resultados de la investigacion didactica de las ciencias una propuesta alternativa de practicas de laboratorio segun la cual deben estar integradas en un proceso de aprendizaje por investigacion
