A partir del formalismo de la matriz de scattering se estudia la absorcion que tiene lugar en dichos espejos y las modificaciones que introduce en la transmitancia y reflectancia calculadas a partir del modelo standard. Las expresiones obtenidas permiten explicar resultados experimentales previos e introducir diversas funciones de merito para optimizar el compromiso entre la transmitancia maxima y la fineza.  se aplica el mismo modelo al estudio de la absorcion en diversas configuraciones de divisores de haz, obteniendo las condiciones que la hacen minima y tambien a estructuras absorbentes de radiacion
