El m\u00e9todo desarrollado permite la separaci\u00f3n de diferentes formas mono (mv) y divin\u00edlicas (dv) de las clorofilas c polares y no polares, el par cr\u00edtico chl a\/dv chl a (el pigmento marcador de la cianobacteria prochlorococcus marinus), y la mayor\u00eda de los carotenoides marcadores del fitoplancton.  se revisaron las composiciones de pigmentos de especies seleccionadas de tres grupos algales que incluyen especies t\u00f3xicas o formadoras de proliferaciones algales nocivas: diatomeas (bacillariophyceae), dinoflagelados (dinophyceae), y haptofitas (clases pavlovophyceae y prymnesiphyceae, divisi\u00f3n haptophyta):  (i) en el g\u00e9nero pseudo-nitzschia (bacillariophyceae) se han definido tres tipos pigmentarios en funci\u00f3n de la composici\u00f3n de chls c y todas las especies analizadas de dicho g\u00e9nero coinciden en poseer un pigmento d 2x el tipo chl c2 detectado previamente en pavlova gyrans (pavlovophyceae). las especies t\u00f3xicas p.Australis y p.Multiseries mostraron un perfil pigmentario distinto del resto de especies estudiadas.  (ii) en las especies analizadas del g\u00e9nero karlodinium y particularmente en karenia (dinophyceae) se ha detectado una gran diversidad de compuestos espectralmente similares a la fucoxantina, y como principal diferencia entre ambos g\u00e9neros karenia mikimotoi y karenia brevis presenta una chl c2-mgdg con propiedades cromatogr\u00e1ficas similares a la chl c2-mgdg (14:0\/14:0) detectada en chrysochromulina polylepis (prymnesiophyceae) no detectada en el g\u00e9nero karlodinium.  (iii) las especies analizadas de haptofitas muestran una gran diversidad de chls c (polares y no polares de tipo chl c2-mgdg) y carotenoides que permite ampliar hasta nueve los tipos pigmentarios
