Cuando se mueven los ojos se produce un peque\u00f1o desplazamiento de la imagen sobre la reinta, sin embargo, no se produce percepci\u00f3n de una imagen borrosa, por lo que deben actuar ciertos mecanismos en el sistema visual para suprimier esta informaci\u00f3n borrosa provocada durante la sacada. El cerebro debe ignorar el desplazamiento de la imagen sobre la retina producido por la sacada y compensar el cambio de posici\u00f3n del objeto en el espacio visual y la posici\u00f3n del objeto sobre la retina para mantener la estabilidad visual. Al fen\u00f3meno por el cual la sacada suprime la sensibilidad visual para amortiguar la sensaci\u00f3n de desplazamiento y a la distorsi\u00f3n del espacio visual previo al movimiento ocular es a lo que se le ha llamado \u00absurpresi\u00f3n sac\u00e1dica\u00bb. Actualmente existen videncias experimentales que indican que las se\u00f1ales de movimiento son suprimidas durante las sacadas, probablemente por atenuaci\u00f3n de la actividad en la v\u00eda magnocelular. El fen\u00f3meno de la  supresi\u00f3n sac\u00e1dica se ha utilizado para investigar un posible mecanismo neuronal involucrado en la percepci\u00f3n visual. C\u00e9lulas de la v\u00eda visual estar\u00edan implicadas en el generaci\u00f3n de una se\u00f1al extraretiniana involucrada en producir la supresi\u00f3n sac\u00e1dica.  durante la tarea de discriminaci\u00f3n hemos encontrado actividad sincronizada en c\u00e9lulas de v1 relacionada con los movimientos microsac\u00e1dicos. En nuestros experimentos la sincronizaci\u00f3n se produce inmediatamente despu\u00e9s de comenzar el est\u00edmulo y nunca se ha observado sincronizaci\u00f3n de la actividad neuronal en ausencia del est\u00edmulo. Sin embargo, cuando una microsacada se realiza a menos de unos 100 milisegundos del inicio de la presentaci\u00f3n del est\u00edmulo no aparecen sincronizaci\u00f3n pero los movimientos oculares
