La respuesta endotelial a la agresi\u00f3n oxidativa es diferente en estas c\u00e9lulas, dependiendo de la concentraci\u00f3n del h2o2 a bajas concentraciones se manifiestan una respuesta citoprotectora, mientras que a altas concentraciones aparece citotoxicidad. en ambos tipos celulares el estr\u00e9s oxidativo induce la expresi\u00f3n de vegf que ejerce un papel cr\u00edtico en la respuesta citoprotectora a la agresi\u00f3n oxidativa. En vasos enteros, la expresi\u00f3n del mrna de vegf, as\u00ed como la producci\u00f3n de prote\u00edna se estimulan durante la incubaci\u00f3n extracorp\u00f3rea y tras la exposici\u00f3n a h2o2. La exposici\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas endoteliales y de m\u00fasculo liso vascular a h2o2 provoca movilizaci\u00f3n de calcio libre citos\u00f3lico y activaci\u00f3n de plcgamma. En c\u00e9lulas endoteliales, el estr\u00e9s oxidativo induce la expresi\u00f3n del vegfr2, en forma independiente de la inducci\u00f3n de vegf, sugiriendo una respuesta no regulada por el ligando. En cambio, no se detectaron cambios en la expresi\u00f3n del receptor vegfr1. La expresi\u00f3n de vegf autocrino es multiregulada y depende de al menos tres mecanismos de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n intracelular, que pueden ser a su vez interdependientes: fosforilaci\u00f3n de tirosinas, p13k\/akt y pkc. La exposici\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas endoteliales a agentes oxidantes estimula un grado notable de activaci\u00f3n de al menos tres factores de transcripci\u00f3n, hif-1, sp-1 y
