En muchos casos, los enzimas implicados en el metabolismo de estos compuestos est\u00e1n codificados por genes de localizaci\u00f3n plasm\u00eddica. Uno de los pl\u00e1smidos catab\u00f3licos mejor caracterizados es el pl\u00e1smido tol pwwo de pseudomonas putida, responsable de la degradaci\u00f3n de tolueno y xileno. En este pl\u00e1smido, los genes catab\u00f3licos est\u00e1n organizados en dos operones, el oper\u00f3n \u00abupper\u00bb codifica los enzimas necesarios para la oxidaci\u00f3n de hidrocarburos arom\u00e1ticos hasta sus correspondientes \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos, los cuales son degradados hasta intermediarios del ciclo de krebs por los enzimas codificados con el oper\u00f3n meta. Este trabajo se ha centrado en el estudio de uno de los elementos que intervienen en la regulaci\u00f3n de la ruta meta: la prote\u00edna xyls, y m\u00e1s concretamente en su extremo n-terminal,
