En el primer caso, es necesario resolver, en cada escal\u00f3n de tiempo (resultante de la discretizaci\u00f3n temporal), un gran sistema de ecuaciones lineales algebraicas. Para ello, se ha utilizado el m\u00e9todo del gradiente conjugado, utilizando un precondicionador de jacobi, en el segundo caso, en cada escal\u00f3n temporal se resuelven numerosos sistemas de peque\u00f1as dimensiones, y para ello se ha empleado el m\u00e9todo de cholesky.  la implementaci\u00f3n de ambos m\u00e9todos en computadores paralelos demuestra la mayor eficiencia del primero, pero pone de manifiesto algunas deficiencias de las bibliotecas usualmente utilizadas para integrar num\u00e9ricamente este tipo de sistemas, como petsc y aztec. Por esta raz\u00f3n, en esta tesis se realiza un estudio exhaustivo de la implementaci\u00f3n en arquitecturas paralelas del m\u00e9todo de crank-nicolson, y en particular, del algoritmo del gradiente conjugado precondicionado (pcg).  el estudio se ha realizado sobre tres arquitecturas diferentes (origin2000, sun hpc6500 y cray t3e) y utilizando los paradigmas de propagaci\u00f3n paralela de \u00abpaso de mensajes\u00bb (empleando bibliotecas shmen y mpi) y \u00abmemoria compartida\u00bb (con openmp). De este estudio se extraen conclusiones que derivan en la propuesta de una nueva implementaci\u00f3n paralela del algoritmo pcg.  en la implementaci\u00f3n propuesta, se combinan t\u00e9cnicas de
