En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, hemos comprendido que para combatir esta enfermedad, es necesaria una complementaci\u00f3n entre los conocimientos cl\u00ednicos y moleculares de esta.  el objetivo de esta tesis ha sido la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos genes cuya expresi\u00f3n estuviera asociada al fenotipo tumoral de la pr\u00f3stata. Para ello, se ha aplicado la t\u00e9cnica del differential display. A trav\u00e9s de esta hemos encontrado dos genes sobreexpresados en c\u00e1ncer de pr\u00f3stata respecto a la pr\u00f3stata normal, resultado que hemos corroborado mediante rt-pcr semicuantitativa, inmunohistoqu\u00edmica y western blot. Uno de ellos, corresponde a un gen de identidad desconocida, al que hemos denominado ptov1 (prostate tumor overexpressed 1), constitu\u00eddo por un nuevo m\u00f3dulo prote\u00edco, repetido en t\u00e1ndem que se encuentra tambi\u00e9n en otra prote\u00edna (ptov2). Ptov1 se localiza en el cromosoma 19q13 y su expresi\u00f3n est\u00e1 regulada por andr\u00f3genos. La localizaci\u00f3n nuclear de ptov1, as\u00ed como su expresi\u00f3n, estan relacionadas con el ciclo celular. mediante la t\u00e9cnica del doble h\u00edbrido hemos encontrado varias prote\u00ednas que posiblemente con ptov1.  en cuanto al segundo gen, corresponde a emt (extraneurona monoamine transporter). la expresi\u00f3n de emt en determinados tumores de pr\u00f3stata es interesante como herramienta terap\u00e9utica, desde que se conoce que emt act\u00faa como transportador del an\u00e1logo de la cloroetilnitrosourea sarcnu, que es una citotoxina selectiva que se internaliza en la c\u00e9lula espec\u00edficamente a trav\u00e9s de emt y que actualmente se encuentra en fase cl\u00ednica 1.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
