La bios\u00edntesis y el ensamblaje de los diferentes componentes que integran la misma, presentan un considerable inter\u00e9s desde el punto de vista farmac\u00e9utica, ya que la pared es una estructura esencial para las c\u00e9lulas y dada su ausencia en eucariotas superiores, un conocimiento mas profundo de la misma podr\u00eda conducir a la identificaci\u00f3n de potenciales dianas para el desarrollo de agentes antif\u00fangicos de acci\u00f3n selectiva.  en el trabajo de esta tesis doctoral se aborda el estudio de dos genes del hongo pat\u00f3geno candida albicans:caeng1 y caeng2, que podr\u00edan codificar para dos endo-beta-1,3-glucanasas que como tales y dada su elevada similitud con las prote\u00ednas hom\u00f3logas de la levadura saccharomyces cerevisiae, podr\u00edan ejercer su funci\u00f3n a nivel de la pared celular.  la eliminaci\u00f3n individual de cada uno de estos genes y en combinaci\u00f3n con otras glucanasas, ha permitido obtener diferentes mutantes: eng1, eng1, eng2, eng1 xog1 eng2 xog1 que han constituido la base del trabajo experimental de esta tesis.  en primer lugar, ni la capacidad de crecimiento de estas estirpes mutantes, ni la capacidad de realizar la transici\u00f3n morfol\u00f3gica caracter\u00edstica de candida albicans, se ven afectada por la deleci\u00f3n de estos genes respecto de las cepas parentales empleadas como controles. El estudio de la virulencia en un modelo murino de infecci\u00f3n sist\u00e9mica, no ha permitido observar diferencias significativas entre el comportamiento de estas cepas y las parentales. tambi\u00e9n se han analizado diversos par\u00e1metros celulares que no se ven afectados en gran medida. Se pude observar una cierta alteraci\u00f3n respecto a la sensibilidad a compuestos que afectan la s\u00edntesis correcta o el ensamblaje adecuado de los diferentes componentes estructurales de la
