En este trabajo de investigacion hemos pretendido ofrecer un panorama general de este peculiar tipo literario, segun se ha cultivado en g.B. Y eeuu, seleccionando para ello un total de diez autores y treinta y dos novelas que, ambientadas global o parcialmente en un escenario academico, describen la psicopatolog\u00eda diaria de profesores y alumnos en sus versiones parodicas. Como prototipo o exponente nuclear del subgenero, segun los terminos de david fishelov, hemos escogido a david ladge, critico, novelista, y hasta hace poco profesor de la universidad de birmingham. Y segun el lugar que ocupan en el espacio narrativo que rodea al prototipo, hemos hablado de hibridos academicos, cuando la narracion universitaria se ha combinado con la de otros subgeneros al mismo nivel (tal es el caso de la novela academica de detectives que practica a. Cross, de la novela de costumbres academicas que cultivan b. Pym y a. Lurie, y de las novelas academicas de crecimiento de m. Drabble), y de narraciones escritas en modo academico, esto es, cuando la universidad no aparece como elemento funcional del discurso y la novela se ve tan solo coloreada con algunas de las caracteristicas, se\u00f1aladas en nuestro primer capitulo como definitorias del subgenero, tal es el caso de a. Brookner, c.S.Lewis, j. Barth. P. Roth, j.  russ y m. French.
