Se estudian algunas de sus propiedades m\u00e1s relevantes y se analiza su robustez por medio del an\u00e1lisis matem\u00e1tico de la probabilidad de fallo.  como una aplicaci\u00f3n derivada del algoritmo propuesto, se presenta un nuevo filtro no lineal llamado cf (cluster filter) para la eliminaci\u00f3n del ruido gaussiano. Sobre cada p\u00edxel se centra una ventana deslizante cuyo histograma local es particionado en grupos gracias al algoritmo close. la salida del filtro cf es el nivel medio del grupo en el que se encuentra el p\u00edxel central.  se presenta y estudia la aplicaci\u00f3n del algoritmo close en teor\u00eda de la informaci\u00f3n, definiendo la entropo\u00eda agrupada como una variante mejorada de la entropia cl\u00e1sica de shannon. Esta variante tiene la ventaja de no sufrir el efecto de saturaci\u00f3n en los casos de histogrmas locales dispersos causados por ruidos, degradaciones o desenfoques de la imagen.  otra medidas entr\u00f3picas son tambi\u00e9n susceptibles de modificaci\u00f3n por el mismo m\u00e9todo, como la divergencia de jensen shannon agrupada, cuyas propiedades son analizadas.  como aplicaciones pr\u00e1cticas de las medidas entr\u00f3picas agrupadas la tesis presenta dos m\u00e9todos de detecci\u00f3n de bordes. El primero consiste en la detecci\u00f3n de m\u00e1ximos locales de la entrop\u00eda agrupada de una ventana deslizante, y el segundo es una variante de un m\u00e9todo existente basado en la
