La inhibici\u00f3n de la \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico sintetasa (nos) constituye un enfoque eficaz en la b\u00fasqueda de nuevos agentes neuroprotectores eficaces. Se han sintetizado 29 nuevos inhibidores de la nnos, agrupados en kinurenaminas (compuestos relacionados con el metabolito cerebral de la melatonina, compuesto gvl-1) y pirazolinas (an\u00e1logos r\u00edgidos de aquellos).  todas las estructuras propuestas han quedado inequ\u00edvocamente identificadas mediante el uso combinado de las diversas t\u00e9cnicas espectrosc\u00f3picas realizadas en la memoria.  tando los derivados kinurenam\u00ednicos como los pirazol\u00ednicos se comportan como inhibidores de la nnos. Aunque el metabolito cerebral de la melatonina muestra una importante actividad inhibitoria, se ha logrado sintetizar un derivado pirzol\u00ednico m\u00e1s potente que aqu\u00e9l. Resulta interesante mencionar que la influencia del sustituyente r am\u00eddico es distinta para las dos familias estructurales sintetizadas. Este hecho ha sido interpretado en esta memoria.  los estudios cin\u00e9ticos sobre gvl-1 han demostrado que este tipo de compuestos se unen selectivamente al complejo cacam impidiendo la activaci\u00f3n de nnos.  tambi\u00e9n se ha llevado a cabo un estudio de superposici\u00f3n molecular entre la conformaci\u00f3n propuesta como farmac\u00f3fora en pirazolinas y las encontradas para las kinurenaminas, tal y como se describe en la memoria.
