En primer lugar, se presenta una metodolog\u00eda enfocada al estudio de plumas contaminantes bidimensionales (2d) al objeto de generar alternativas que permitan la prevenci\u00f3n y el control de la calidad del agua en r\u00edos. Con el fin de evitar el modelado bidimensional de plumas en r\u00edos muy extensos y con ello obtener un ahorro de recursos, \u00e9sta propone el empleo de modelos unidimensionales de calidad para identificar las zonas de influencia de las fuentes contaminantes y generar los diversos par\u00e1metros de entrada necesarios para el modelo 2d. Ejemplo de su aplicaci\u00f3n se muestra en el caso del r\u00edo valles (san luis potos\u00ed, m\u00e9xico), donde se determina el sitio \u00f3ptimo de la localizaci\u00f3n de la descarga de su fuente m\u00e1s contaminante (ingenio plan de ayala) y con ello lograr la m\u00e1xima tasa de diluci\u00f3n de la substancia vertida.  posteriormente, se describe un modelo matem\u00e1tico 2d que permite simular la hidrodin\u00e1mica y las caracter\u00edsticas dispersivas de sistemas fluviales con rugosidad variable en dominios espaciales pocos extensos. En \u00e9ste la turbulencia se modela utilizando el concepto de viscosidad de remolino de boussinesq (1877), asumiendo un \u00fanico valor constante de este par\u00e1metro en el sistema. Por otra parte, los coeficientes de dispersi\u00f3n (longitudinal y transversal) del modelo de transporte se asumen de mayor magnitud con respecto a los coeficientes de difusi\u00f3n turbulenta. Las ecuaciones gobernantes del modelo 2d se resuelven num\u00e9ricamente empleando m\u00e9todos de diferencias finitas, un esquema impl\u00edcito del m\u00e9todo adi en las ecuaciones hidrodin\u00e1micas, y un esquema upwind-centrado en la ecuaci\u00f3n de transporte. La validaci\u00f3n del modelo num\u00e9rico se efect\u00faa por medio de su contraste con soluciones anal\u00edticas existentes y con campa\u00f1as de medida en<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
