A continuaci\u00f3n se exponen los problemas que se presentaron en el momento de la publicaci\u00f3n de la novela y de los dem\u00e1s textos.  en el segundo cap\u00edtulo estudiamos la historia de la recepci\u00f3n del texto centr\u00e1ndonos en los a\u00f1os inmediatamente posteriores a su publicaci\u00f3n.  en el tercer cap\u00edtulo se estudian las t\u00e9cnicas y los procedimientos en virtud de los cuales personajes, hechos, lugares, vivencias y recuerdos de la vida del escritor se transforman en materia literaria.  en el cap\u00edtulo cuarto realizamos la lectura cr\u00edtica del texto desde tres \u00e1ngulos: el desarrollo de la narraci\u00f3n, los personajes y los espacios. llevamos a cabo un an\u00e1lisis cronol\u00f3gico de la novela que, empleando una metodolog\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica, sea permeable a las sugerencias del propio texto.  en el cap\u00edtulo quinto nos centramos en el estudio de la dimensi\u00f3n m\u00edtico-simb\u00f3lica de la sicilia lampedusiana, aplicando los principios e instrumentos de la teor\u00eda del mito y del s\u00edmbolo y de la po\u00e9tica del imaginario.  en el cap\u00edtulo sexto aportamos las conclusiones de nuestro trabajo, en
