Dentro de esta familia de prote\u00ednas encontramos, por un lado, las procarboxipeptidasas pancre\u00e1ticas y, por otro, las carboxipeptidasas reguladoras.  las procarboxipeptidasas pancre\u00e1ticas son un sistema muy estudiado, del cual se cuenta con numerosos datos, tanto a nivel estructural  como a nivel funcional. En esta tesis se han estudiado los mecanismos de activaci\u00f3n e inhibici\u00f3n de una prote\u00edna perteneciente a este grupo, la procarboxipeptidasa b porcina. Para ello, se han obtenido mutantes de esta prote\u00edna mediante el m\u00e9todo de expresi\u00f3n heter\u00f3loga de la levadura pichia pastoris, que nos han ayudado a acabar de definir su proceso de activaci\u00f3n, relacion\u00e1ndolo con algunas de sus caracter\u00edsticas estructurales.  en las carboxipeptidasas reguladoras se hab\u00edan realizado algunos estudios funcionales, pero hasta el momento del inicio de esta tesis, eran completamente desconocidas a nivel estructural. En este trabajo se ha conseguido expresar, purificar y concentrar el dominio 2 de la carboxipeptidasa d (cpd) de pato a niveles adecuados para su cristalizaci\u00f3n y se ha resuelto su estructura cristalina. Consideramos que \u00e9sta es un prototipo para las carboxipeptidasas reguladoras, ya que es la primera estructura que se ha obtenido de esta subfamilia, y la \u00fanica hasta el momento.  por \u00faltimo, nos hemos basado en la estructura cristalina del dominio 2 de cpd de pato para confeccinar modelos te\u00f3ricos de otras reguladoras (dominios 1 y 3 de cpd de pato y cpe humana).
