Una de las preguntas m\u00e1s interesantes en biolog\u00eda es c\u00f3mo las c\u00e9lulas de un tejido en desarrollo reciben la informaci\u00f3n necesaria para diferenciarse en tipos celulares particulares. En los \u00faltimos d\u00edez a\u00f1os ha habido grandes avances en este tema con la identificaci\u00f3n de varias mol\u00e9culas secretadas responsables de organizar el crecimiento y la diferenciaci\u00f3n en distintos tejidos durante el desarrollo. Sin embargo, a\u00fan quedan muchas preguntas por contestar. el mecanismo por el cual estas mol\u00e9culas se desplazan es a\u00fan motivo de controversia, y no se entiende c\u00f3mo estas se\u00f1ales externas se traducen en cambios en la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica que dan lugar a la formaci\u00f3n de diversos tipos celulares.  en esta tesis he usado el desarrollo del ala de drosophila melanogaster como modelo para estudiar las diversas se\u00f1ales que controlan el crecimiento y la diferenciaci\u00f3n. He usado el m\u00e9todo ep de sobre-expresi\u00f3n aleatoria de genes, para identificar nuevos genes con una funci\u00f3n relevante en la regulaci\u00f3n e interpretaci\u00f3n de los gradientes morfogen\u00e9ticos que tienen lugar durante la formaci\u00f3n del ala. He identificado un nuevo gene llamado torero, cuya expresi\u00f3n se activa en respuesta a wingless. Torero desempe\u00f1a un importante papel en el embri\u00f3n y en el disco imaginal limitando el rango de acci\u00f3n de wingless. Torero pertenece a la familia de enzimas a\/b hydrolasas y act\u00faa durante el desarrollo en la matriz extracelular para modificar los proteoglicanos con heparan sulfato.
