En esta memoria se han llevado a cabo biorreducciones de diferentes beta-cetonitrilos con microorganismos que contienen oxidoreductasas apropiadas. As\u00ed, se han conseguido preparar beta, hidroxinitrilos con uno y dos centros quirales y elevados excesos enantiom\u00e9ricos.  cap\u00edtulo 1  la incubaci\u00f3n de benzoilacetonitrilo con el hongocurvularia lunata en presencia de etanol provoca que, adem\u00e1s de la reducci\u00f3n del grupo carbonilo, se introduzca un resto etilo en dicha posici\u00f3n. Esta reacci\u00f3n se ha optimizado en t\u00e9rminos de rendimiento qu\u00edmico y estereoselectividad y se ha estudiado su mecanismo emp\u00edricamente. Posteriormente, esta reacci\u00f3n se ha extendido con otros alcoholes af\u00e1ticos diferentes del etanol y con diferentes beta-cetonitrilos sin sustituyentes en la posici\u00f3n alfa.
