Se trata de producir una deformaci\u00f3n en fr\u00edo en tubos lisos con el objeto de mejorar la transferencia de calor. Este proceso de deformaci\u00f3n tiene un bajo coste de fabricaci\u00f3n y produce mejoras de la transferencia de calor interesantes para su aplicaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1ctica en intercambiadores de calor de tipo industrial.  el trabajo ha comprendido el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de una nueva instalaci\u00f3n experimental, as\u00ed como del desarrollo de procedimientos de medida para asegurar amplios rangos experimentales de flujo con precisiones de medida adecuadas.  en la tesi se han caracterizado dos familias de tubos mejorados:  1,- tubos corrugados en espiral: se trata de tubos rugosos fabricados por la rodadura de una herramienta cil\u00edndrica provista de un relieve en forma de corona.  2,- tubos con abolladuras en espiral: en este caso la rueda que produce la deformaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 provista de protuberancias semiesf\u00e9ricas equiespaciadas.  se han proporcionado correlaciones pr\u00e1cticas para las regiones laminar, transici\u00f3n y turbulenta, v\u00e1lidas para aplicaciones pr\u00e1cticas de dise\u00f1o en amplios rangos tanto geom\u00e9tricos como de flujo. Adem\u00e1s se ha establecido la influencia de la geometr\u00eda de la rugosidad en el aumento de la p\u00e9rdida de presi\u00f3n y transferencia de calor, proponi\u00e9ndose un gr\u00e1fico para seleccionar la geometr\u00eda m\u00e1s \u00f3ptima en funci\u00f3n de las caracter\u00edsticas del flujo.  por \u00faltimo, se ha realizado, calibrado y validado un modelo computacional del elemento
