El espectro de absorcion y de fluorescencia de hhif sugieren la existencia de un anillo aromatico en su estructura. Hhif inhibe la actividad (ca2+mg2+)atpasa de la membrana plasmatica sinaptosomal y del reticulo sarcoplasmico. El efecto de hhif sobre la actividad atpasa es dependiente de la concentracion de membranas en el medio de ensayo, lo cual sugieren cambios en la concentracion de inhibidor libre por adsorcion a las membranas. Concentraciones de hhif que inhiben la actividad atpasa de estas membranas no producen cambios apreciables en el parametro de orden de las mismas.  hhif altera los flujos de ca2+ de sinaptosomas: inhibe el transporte de ca2+ dependiente de atp, aumenta la permeabilidad pasiva a ca2+ y estimula el influjo de calcio via intercambiador na+\/ca2+. Hhif aumenta la concentracion de calcio intracelular en cultivo de celulas mesangiales. Estos resultados sugieren que hhif podria desempe\u00f1ar un importante papel en el control de la homeostasis celular del calcio y la modulacion de la bomba de ca2+ podria deberse a la desorganizacion
