Utilizando una metodolog\u00eda de cultivo discontinuo con diferentes ciclos de luz: oscuridad, la condici\u00f3n \u00f3ptima de producci\u00f3n de biomasa fue de 12:12. La fase de oscuridad favorece el crecimiento. En el cultivo semicontinuo con diferentes tasas de renovaci\u00f3n, concentraci\u00f3n de nutrientes y ciclos de luz: oscuridad 12:12 y 24:0, la productividad m\u00e1xima se alcanza en la condici\u00f3n de 12:12, 4 mg \u00e1t. N\/l y 40% d\u00eda -1 de tasa de renovaci\u00f3n. la intensidad luminosa de 200 umol quanta m-2 s-1 maximiza la productividad.  la carotenog\u00e9nesis se indujo con elevada intensidad luminosa y ausencia de nitr\u00f3geno. La microalga produjo astaxantina y cantaxantina como pigmentos secundarios en concentraciones de 1.9 y 2 fg\/c\u00e9l respectivamente.  el escalado de la producci\u00f3n se realiz\u00f3 en fotobioreactores con capacidad de 50 y 100 litros. Se compar\u00f3 la productividad y la composici\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica en cultivo discontinuo (fase estacionaria) con la del semicontinuo (fase de estabilizaci\u00f3n). El cultivo semicontinuo tiene mayor productividad y mayor contenido celular de prote\u00edna.  se analiz\u00f3 la variaci\u00f3n de la composici\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica en la fase de estabilizaci\u00f3n a lo largo del ciclo de luz.
