Citoquinas activas y otros indices inflamatorios han sido descritos en estudios post-mortem de cerebros de pacientes con enfermedad de parkinson, en humanos intoxicados con mptp y en modelos de parkinsonismo experimental en roedores. Estos cambios podr\u00edan estar supuestamente relacionados con la muerte neuronal dopaminergica. Sin embargo, es todab\u00eda desconocido si los cambios inflamatorios son responsables de la muerte neuronal activa o si por el contrario tienen un papel protector frente a la neurodegeneraci\u00f3n. En este estudio se han medido diferentes factores inflamatorios en monos parkinsonianos cr\u00f3nicos un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s de la \u00faltima dosis de mptp. Estos animales no fueron tratados con l-dopa ni con ning\u00fan agonista dopamin\u00e9rgico. Los resultados revelaron que persist\u00edan los procesos inflamatorios activos tanto en el servicio in vivo como en el post-mortem. los niveles de citoquinas obtenidos en plasma fueron elevados en los monos tratados con mptp. En el estudio post-mortem, el examen neuropatol\u00f3gico de la sustancia negra para compacta de los monos tratados con mptp revel\u00f3 diferentes cambios significativos en diferentes c\u00e9lulas que expresaban factores inflamatorios.
