En este trabajo hemos identificado un tercer alelo de longitud intermedia y hemos localizado el locus msh42 en el cromosoma 15q25,1. Dentro de un intr\u00f3n perteneciente a un gen de funci\u00f3n desconocida. El potencial recombinog\u00e9nico de los tres alelos se ensay\u00f3 in vitro incubando pl\u00e1smidos, construidos clonando en pbr322 dos copis de las variantes al\u00e9licas del minisat\u00e9lite msh42 con sus secuencias flanqueantes, en presencia de extractos nucleares de test\u00edculos de rata. Este sistema experimental fue dise\u00f1ado para detectar entrecruzamientos y no conversaci\u00f3n g\u00e9nica. Todos los alelos de msh42 potencian la recombinaci\u00f3n hom\u00f3loga intramolecular, promoviendo altas tasas de entrecruzamiento igual (76%), siendo el alelo largo el que mostr\u00f3 una mayor actividad recombinatoria.  la eliminaci\u00f3n de las secuencias flanqueantes del alelo largo de msh42, id\u00e9nticas a las de los otros alelos, provoc\u00f3 un descenso en la potenciaci\u00f3n de la recombinaci\u00f3n y en la frecuencia de entrecruzamientos de tipo igual, sugiriendo que estas secuencias hom\u00f3logas. La detecci\u00f3n de algunos eventos recombinatorios complejos dentro del minisat\u00e9lite msh42 sugiere la existencia de procesos relacionados tanto con el slippage como con la disociaci\u00f3n y reinvasi\u00f3n durante la s\u00edntesis reparadora del dna. Nuestros resultados apuntan hacia la existencia de dos rutas bioqu\u00edmicas para la iniciaci\u00f3n y resoluci\u00f3n de eventos recombinatorios en el minisat\u00e9lite msh42. As\u00ed mismo, hemos detectado la existencia de interacciones espec\u00edficas producidas por prote\u00ednas procedentes de extractos nucleares som\u00e1ticos y germinales con diferentes grupos de repeticiones del minisat\u00e9lite, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n con zonas de las secuencias no repetitivas que lo flanquean, observ\u00e1ndose patrones de interacci\u00f3n distintos con ambos tipos de extractos.
