El peso se mantiene estable durante a\u00f1os gracias a la leptina. tiene profundos efectos en el apetito y el balance energ\u00e9tico, pero adem\u00e1s ejerce su influencia sobre el metabolismo y m\u00faltiples sistemas endocrinos (incluidos los relacionados con la pubertad, fertilidad y homeostasis de energ\u00eda) a trav\u00e9s de su receptor. Uno de sus efectos es un papel inmunomodulador. con estos antecedentes se plante\u00f3 el trabajo de caracterizar esa funci\u00f3n de la leptina y profundizar en este campo. Hemos encontrado que la leptina potencia la activaci\u00f3n linfocitaria, dirige la respuesta de los linfocitos t colaboradores hacia un fenotipo th1. Ambas acciones son mediadas por la isoforma larga del receptor de leptina.
