Varios aspectos de la morfolog\u00eda ret\u00ednica han sido objeto de an\u00e1lisis detallados, pero muchas especializaciones oculares y su significado ecol\u00f3gico son a\u00fan desconocidas. El objetivo del presente estudio ha sido dar respuesta a algunas cuestiones, a\u00fan por resolver, centradas en la relaci\u00f3n entre la morfolog\u00eda del sistema visual y las adaptaciones al ambiente en peces. por esta raz\u00f3n, conocer como los peces perciben las im\u00e1genes a trav\u00e9s de determinadas estructuras de la retina ha sido el primer objetivo. Para ello, se estudi\u00f3 la topograf\u00eda ret\u00ednica (la distribuci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas ganglionares) en ocho especies de condr\u00edctios (scyliorhinus canicula, galeus melastomus, etmopterus spinax, galeocerdo cuvier, hemiscyllium ocellatum, isistius brasiliensis, raya bigelowi, hydrolagus mirabilis). Estas especies viven a diferentes profundidades y muestran diferentes modos de vida. Adem\u00e1s, se estudiaron tambi\u00e9n dos especies de teleosteos, uno bentopel\u00e1gico (merluccius merluccius) y otro endobent\u00f3nico (ophichthus rufus). El an\u00e1lisis de la topograf\u00eda ret\u00ednica indica que en elasmobranquios, las especializaciones de la retina est\u00e1n relacionadas con la posici\u00f3n de los ojos, con el movimiento natatorio y con el comportamiento alimentario. Los an\u00e1lisis histol\u00f3gicos, espectrofotom\u00e9tricos y moleculares de los fotoreceptores de dos peque\u00f1os tiburones mediterraneos, evidencian que en la especie m\u00e1s costera, s.Canicula, los fororeceptores se hallan adaptados a un entorno donde la cantidad de luz no es un factor limitante para la visi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis
