Un fragmento de 400 amino\u00e1cidos localizado en el centro de la mol\u00e9cula (nf1-grd) tiene gran similitud con otras mol\u00e9culas de la familia gap, que incluye p120gap, y las prote\u00ednas de levadura ira1 e ira2, todas ellas capaces de acelerar la actividad gtpasa de las prote\u00ednas ras. De esta manera, las prote\u00ednas de la familia gap facilitan el tr\u00e1nsito de ras a su estado inactivo, unido a gap. Descubrimientos recientes revelan que nf1 puede estar involucrado en otros importantes procesos celulares. nuestro estudio muestra que la inactivaci\u00f3n de un alelo de nf1 coopera in vivo con la sobreexpresi\u00f3n del proto-oncog\u00e9n ras en la formaci\u00f3n de tumores, sugiriendo una actividad supresora de tumores para nf1. Por otro lado, nf1-grd coopera con ras en el mecanismo de crecimiento libre de anclaje en fibroblastos de rat\u00f3n, sin afectar:  1,- su capacidad de crecer en baja concentraci\u00f3n de nutrientes.  2,- su capacidad de adhesi\u00f3n celular.  3,- la expresi\u00f3n de diversas prote\u00ednas involucradas en las interacciones c\u00e9lula-c\u00e9lula y c\u00e9lula-matriz extracelular.  4,- el estado de activaci\u00f3n de rac o ral.  por otro lado, la sobreexpresi\u00f3n de nf1 induce un aumento en la expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna fak, y cambios espec\u00edficos (seg\u00fan la isoforma de ras) en el estado de activaci\u00f3n de las mapks erk-1 y erk-2. Estos resultados sugieren la existencia de un mecanismo dependiente de nf1 e independiente de ras, que es capaz de modificar expresi\u00f3n de fak y la activaci\u00f3n de las mapks y que podr\u00eda
