En concreto, se ha estudiado la interacci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de la toxina con membranas de eritrocitos y la implicaci\u00f3n de distintas regiones en la actividad de la prote\u00edna.  del estudio de la interacci\u00f3n de la toxina con membranas de eritrocitos se concluye que la actividad de la toxina est\u00e1 mediada por la interacci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de la misma con la glicoforina, que act\u00faa como receptor espec\u00edfico de hlya en est\u00e9 tipo celular. Adem\u00e1s se define la regi\u00f3n entre los amino\u00e1cidos 914-936 como implicada en esta interacci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica entre ambas prote\u00ednas.  por otra parte, al determinar el papel que desempe\u00f1an los tript\u00f3fanos de hlya, se observa que los tript\u00f3fanos no parecen implicados en la capacidad de inserci\u00f3n en membranas. Al mismo tiempo, de la mutag\u00e9nesis dirigida del tript\u00f3fano 914 deduce que es el \u00fanico que participa en el cambio de fluorescencia intr\u00ednseca que se observa cuando se produce el cambio conformacional que provoca el calcio en la prote\u00edna.  finalmente, se aborda el papel de la histidina 859, que se encuentra en la pen\u00faltima de las repeticiones del dominio de uni\u00f3n a calcio, concluy\u00e9ndose que es un residuo esencial para la actividad de la toxina, afectando a los equilibrios de agregaci\u00f3n de la toxina, adem\u00e1s de ser responsable de la
