Se pone de manifiesto c\u00f3mo las transformaciones econ\u00f3micas, pol\u00edticas y culturales producidas a escala mundial encuentran su repercusi\u00f3n en las lenguas extranjeras incluidas actualmente en el curriculum en nuestro sistema educativo y en los de otros pa\u00edses del \u00e1mbito europeo. se analiza as\u00ed el progresivo declive a que se vio sometido el franc\u00e9s en espa\u00f1a frente al ascenso del ingl\u00e9s, profundiz\u00e1ndose, a partir de la realizaci\u00f3n de un estudio estad\u00edstico, en la trayectoria seguida por ambos idiomas durante los a\u00f1os de vigencia de la ley general de educaci\u00f3n del 70 y tras la implantaci\u00f3n de la logse. Se argumenta que la p\u00e9rdida de protagonismo y la disminuci\u00f3n del poder\u00edo econ\u00f3mico de francia, asociada al imperialismo econ\u00f3mico, pol\u00edtico, ling\u00ed\u00bc\u00edstico y cultural ejercido por estados unidos a nivel mundial ser\u00edan los responsables del giro de la demanda social hacia el ingl\u00e9s. Se demuestra, asimismo, que la reaparici\u00f3n del franc\u00e9s en calidad de materia optativa con la logse guarda relaci\u00f3n con la constituci\u00f3n de la uni\u00f3n europea.  en la segunda parte, se somete a examen cr\u00edtico el tratamiento otorgado a los contenidos socioculturales en el curriculum de franc\u00e9s teniendo presentes tres niveles. Se analizan las prescripciones de la administraci\u00f3n (curriculum oficial), se ofrecen una serie de pautas metodol\u00f3gicas para proceder al estudio del modo en que los libros de texto recogen este tipo de contenidos, incluy\u00e9ndose un modelo anal\u00edtico desarrollado a partir del examen de un manual (curriculum editado).
