Romero fue clarinetista, profesor de clarinete y oboe del conservatorio de Madrid, editor, almacenista de m\u00fasica, propietario y fundador del sal\u00f3n romeo.  siguiendo su trayectoria vital, profundizamos en temas colaterales como la importancia de las instituciones musicales militares en el desarrollo de la m\u00fasica espa\u00f1ola; la condici\u00f3n social del instrumentista en el siglo xix en espa\u00f1a, el nacimiento de una nueva pedagog\u00eda musical en espa\u00f1a y la repercusi\u00f3n y participaci\u00f3n de los m\u00fasicos espa\u00f1oles en las exposiciones nacionales y universales coet\u00e1neas, la compleja controversia sobre la \u00f3pera espa\u00f1ola o la revoluci\u00f3n de la editorial y comercio musical espa\u00f1ol en la segunda mitad del siglo xix. El trabajo se completa con el estudio y valoraci\u00f3n del clarinetista sistema romero, y diversos ap\u00e9ndices documentales que aportan una selecci\u00f3n de fuentes que hemos manejado para
