A\u00fan siendo consciente de que sorolla no se consideraba un retratista, -afirmaci\u00f3n por el mismo reiterada a lo largo de su vida- se intentar\u00e1 demostrar que dentro del g\u00e9nero del retrato, su aspecto intimista, a pesar de la aparente sencillez conceptual del tema, es algo que pervive y est\u00e1 latente en su obra.  todo el trabajo est\u00e1 orientado hacia el estudio del reparto pict\u00f3rico de sorolla, incidiendo en el aspecto o cuesti\u00f3n intimista de este g\u00e9nero.  en la misma l\u00ednea se realizar\u00e1 una aproximaci\u00f3n al autorretrato como variante y sutil auto referencia de los propios artistas.  as\u00ed pues, en este estudio se ha pretendido recoger un aspecto que -trabajando por sorolla a lo largo de su vida de forma inconsciente- fue planteado de manera similar al modo que lo hicieron otros predecesores como leonardo, miguel \u00e1ngel, vel\u00e1zquez, goya, y de otros posteriores que siguieron en una l\u00ednea similar como modigliani, picasso, balthus, etc.  esta tesis se estructurar\u00e1, para un mejor an\u00e1lisis y comprensi\u00f3n, en cuatro apartados concretos, mas uno final que contendr\u00e1 las
