Para caracterizar de forma precisa los reg\u00edmenes se estudian 12 par\u00e1metros hidrol\u00f3gicos de siginificado biol\u00f3gico.  se pretende conseguir tres objetivos fundamentales: caracterizar hidrol\u00f3gicamente los r\u00edos de la cuenca del tajo; regionalizar la cuenca del tajo, y establecer relaciones entre variables de las cuencas y las caracter\u00edsticas biol\u00f3gicas, y establecer unos reg\u00edmenes ecol\u00f3gicos de caudales.  cada uno de los r\u00edos se estudia con los siguientes par\u00e1metros:  que definen los periodos de aguas altas: q18, d&gt;m, n&gt; sd.  que definen los periodos de aguas bajas: q347, q25d, min&lt;sd.  que reflejan la variaci\u00f3n dentro del a\u00f1o: cvintra, torrencial, difaunal.  que reflejan la variaci\u00f3n entre los a\u00f1os: cvinter, irregular, mes seco.  se considera que el valor q25d es un buen estimador del caudal ecol\u00f3gico y el m\u00ednimo que debe circular.  la regionalizaci\u00f3n da como resultado tres grupos de r\u00edos: r\u00edos de caudales regulares y estables, r\u00edos de caudales que fluct\u00faan con mucha frecuencia y r\u00edos irregulares, con caudales torrenciales \u00f3 temporales.  las correlaciones m\u00e1s interesantes encontradas han sido las obtenidas entre los par\u00e1metros que representan el caudal ecol\u00f3gico y las variables de la cuenca.  a partir de estas relaciones se establecen dos modelos que nos permite estimar el valor del caudal q25d en cuencas sin aforos.  por \u00faltimo se ha dado para cada uno de los 25 tramos, doce valores de caudal que se han obtenido partiendo del caudal ecol\u00f3gico m\u00ednimo, aplic\u00e1ndole un \u00edndice de variaci\u00f3n mensual, que permite que las oscilaciones de caudal en el a\u00f1o, sigan la misma pauta que la que
