Consiste en la variaci\u00f3n de la resistencia el\u00e9ctrica del material bajo la aplicaci\u00f3n de un campo magn\u00e9tico.  en los pasados a\u00f1os, se ha informado de varios materiales que mostraban una muy fuerte mr, especialmente cerca de la temperatura de transici\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica. Debido a los altos valores de la mr, este comportamiento ha sido bautizado con el nombre de magnetorresistencia \u00abcolosal\u00bb (cmr, del ingl\u00e9s \u00abcolossal magnetoresistance\u00bb). Esto les hace muy interesantes para detectar campos magn\u00e9ticos, especialmente en la industria del almacenamiento magn\u00e9tico de informaci\u00f3n, y en otros diferentes tipos de sensores.  en 1996, se descubri\u00f3 que el tl2mn2o7 presentaba cmr. Debido a la dificultad inherente a su s\u00edntesis a altas presiones, se han realizado pocos estudios de este manterial. Algunos modelos te\u00f3ricos han pretendido establecer el origen de la mr. Pero la falta de datos publicados sobre compuestos derivados no ha permitido dar una respuesta definitiva a este interesane problema.  en el presente estudio hemos preparado y caracterizado cinco nuevas familias de pirocloros derivados del tl2mn2o7, sustituyendo bien en posiciones tl3+, bien en posiciones mn4+, con cationes iso- o alivolantes: bl3+ y cd2+ para sustituciones de tl; tl4+, sb5+ y te6+ para el mn.  se ha recogido un conjunto de datos muy completo, para la caracterizaci\u00f3n: desde estudios estructurales (difracci\u00f3n de rayos-x y de neutrones en polvos) hasta datos de calor espec\u00edfico, pasando por medidas de transporte y magnetotransporte (incluyendo datos de efecto hall).  se ha realizado un an\u00e1lisis exhaustivo de los datos. Con \u00e9l se ha explicado, a la luz de los modelos existentes, el comportamiento de cada familia individual. se incluye tambi\u00e9n un estudio estructural y de transporte bajo condiciones de alta presi\u00f3n.
