Tambi\u00e9n se describe un m\u00e9todo one pot de s\u00edntesis de \u00e9steres, alfa,beta-insaturados generando el diyoduro de samario en el medio de reacci\u00f3n a partir de samario metal y diyodometano.  en el segundo cap\u00edtulo se describe, en primer lugar, una reacci\u00f3n secuencial de eliminaci\u00f3n-reducci\u00f3n de alfa-halo-beta-hidroxi\u00e9steres o amidas producida por diyoduro de samario, en presencia de agua, obteni\u00e9ndose \u00e9steres o amidas saturadas. Si en lugar de agua se emplea agua deuterada, se obtienen los correspondientes 2,3-dideuterio\u00e9steres o amidas. Esta reacci\u00f3n se aplica tambi\u00e9n a la s\u00edntesis de \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos saturados \u00f3 2,3-dideuterio\u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos empleando para ello \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos alfa,beta-insaturados como productos de partida. En la segunda parte se preparan \u00e9steres o \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos beta, gamma-insaturados en los que el doble enlace c-c se genera con alta o total e-diastereoselecci\u00f3n. Para ello se aplica la anterior reacci\u00f3n secuencial a \u00e9steres alfa-halo-beta-hidroxi-gamma,&#8212;insaturados o se lleva a cabo una reducci\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos alcano-2,4-dienoicos. Si en vez de realizar los procesos anteriores empleando sml2\/h2o, se utiliza sml2\/d2o se obtienen \u00e9steres o \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos alfa, &#8211;dideuterio-beta,gamma-insaturados.  en el tercer y \u00faltimo cap\u00edtulo se describe una nueva ciclopropanaci\u00f3n diastereoespec\u00edfica a amidas alfa,beta-insaturadas empleando una mezcla de sm\/ch2l2.
