Es un tema de gran inter\u00e9s y actualidad dentro de \u00e1mbito de la tecnolog\u00eda energ\u00e9tica, en relaci\u00f3n con el ahorro de la energ\u00eda, el uso eficiente y racional de los recursos y el \u00f3ptimo aprovechamiento de las energ\u00edas renovables.  se realiza una importante revisi\u00f3n bibliogr\u00e1fica sobre almacenamiento de energ\u00eda t\u00e9rmica mediante cambio de fase s\u00f3lido &#8211; l\u00edquido, agrupando la informaci\u00f3n en tres aspectos: materiales, transferencias de calor y aplicaciones. A partir de esta revisi\u00f3n se extraen conclusiones sobre los problemas encontrados en la bibliograf\u00eda al trabajar con modelos te\u00f3ricos y simulaciones computacionales y la falta de trabajos experimentales. Se plantea una l\u00ednea alternativa y complementaria mediante trabajo experimental aplicada al estudio de la refrigeraci\u00f3n gratuita. Dicha aplicaci\u00f3n consiste en almacenar \u00abfr\u00edo\u00bb (extraer la entalp\u00eda de solidificaci\u00f3n de la sustancia) durante la noche y utilizar el almacenamiento t\u00e9rmico como sumidero de calor (productor de fr\u00edo) durante las horas de m\u00e1xima temperatura diurna, absorbiendo la sustancia almacenada el calor necesario para pasar a fase l\u00edquida. De este modo se consigue un efecto a refrigeraci\u00f3n gratuita, aprovechable en los meses de verano y en las zonas geogr\u00e1ficas con varieaciones importantes de temperatura entre el d\u00eda y la noche.  la principal aportaci\u00f3n de esta tesis es el dise\u00f1o, construcci\u00f3n y puesta en marcha de una instalaci\u00f3n que permite analizar con suficiente precisi\u00f3n el proceso de transferencia de calor de un sistema acumulador que intercambia calor con aire. Mediante un programa de ordenador se calcula y se representa gr\u00e1ficamente en tiempo real la evoluci\u00f3n de la potencia intercambiada, la energ\u00eda almacenada o desalmacenada por el
