Diferentes propiedades morfol\u00f3gicas y funcionales fueron evaluadas. Cambios en la forma celular fueron encontrados en estudios de microscop\u00eda de contraste de fases y en meb. Tambi\u00e9n, cambios en la forma del crecimiento, encontr\u00e1ndose que los clones de expresi\u00f3n estable del sindecano-2, crecen en forma aislada y su morfolog\u00eda cambia desde epitelial a tipo mesenquimal. Disminuci\u00f3n en la concentraci\u00f3n de cadherina-e total concomitantemente con la expresi\u00f3n del sindecano-2. El sindecano-2 tambi\u00e9n induce un incremento en la adhesi\u00f3n celular en matrices como col\u00e1geno y vitronectina. La movilidad celular se incrementa en presencia del sindecano-2, as\u00ed como la capacidad de transmigraci\u00f3n.  in vivo, las c\u00e9lulas son expresi\u00f3n de sindecano generan tumores en ratones at\u00edmicos de menor tama\u00f1o respecto de los generados por las l\u00edneas celulares parentales. Similares cambios, tanto morfol\u00f3gicos como funcionales fueron encontrados cuando se realiz\u00f3 la expresi\u00f3n estable del sindecano-2 sobre c\u00e9lulas epitelilaes de ri\u00f3n, mdck. Transfecciones con la deleci\u00f3n completa del dominio citoplasm\u00e1tico del sindecano-2, sugieren que este dominio es relevante para los cambios morfol\u00f3gicos encontrados. Utilizando el m\u00e9todo de transfecci\u00f3n transitoria del sindecano-2, diferentes construcciones del dominio citoplasm\u00e1tico fueron utilizadas con el prop\u00f3sito de evaluar la regi\u00f3n espec\u00edfica de este dominio que pudiera participar y ser responsable de los cambios de forma descritos.
