En este trabajo se aplica a las mamograf\u00edas con el objetivo de eliminar los falsos positivos vasculares en la detecci\u00f3n de microcalcificaciones. Para ello se ha desarrollado un sistema que segmenta los vasos sangu\u00edneos en una determinada regi\u00f3n de inter\u00e9s de la mamograf\u00eda. el m\u00e9todo de segmentaci\u00f3n utilizado es un contorno activo basado en un modelo deformable local. Debido al alto nivel de ruido presente en las mamograf\u00edas, ha sido necesario adaptar el contorno activo para que sea robusto frente a dicho ruido. El contorno activo utiliza la informaci\u00f3n de los bordes de la imagen (mamograf\u00eda) y, para obtener la mejor informaci\u00f3n de los bordes posible, se realiza un exhaustivo estudio de las t\u00e9cnicas de detecci\u00f3n de bordes.  En algunas ocasiones, ciertas estructuras presentes en la mamograf\u00edas, como por ejemplo fragmentos de fibras, hacen que el modelo las confunda con los bordes de un vaso sangu\u00edneo.
