El an\u00e1lisis gen\u00e9tico de las mutaciones indic\u00f3 que son mutaciones nucleares, monog\u00e9nicas, recesivas y que pertenecen a 11 grupos de complementaci\u00f3n.  se ha caracterizado el mutante ehs2-1. La mutaci\u00f3n ehs2-1 se ha localizado cerca del marcador ade6, en el cromosoma iii. Hemos clonado 2 genes, ypt2+ y bgs3+ por complementaci\u00f3n del fenotipo de hipersensibilidad a los antif\u00fangicos del mutante ehs2-1.  ambos genes son supresores de la mutaci\u00f3n ehs2-1., Ypt2+ est\u00e1 implicado en el \u00faltimo paso de la ruta de secreci\u00f3n. La presencia de una prote\u00edna ypt2 defectuosa produce una serie de fenotipos relacionados con una construcci\u00f3n defectuosa de la pared celular, lo que implica un nueva funci\u00f3n de ypt2 en la bios\u00edntesis de la pared celular. Tambi\u00e9n, se ha clonado el gen bgs3+ como otro supresor de la mutaci\u00f3n ehs2-1.Bgs3+ es un gen nuevo que presenta gran homolog\u00eda con los genes de la familia de beta(1-3)gluc\u00e1n sintasa (tanto de saccharomyces cerevisiae como de s.Pombe).Bgs3+ codifica una presunta prote\u00edna integral de membrana y demostramos que es esencial para la viabilidad celular.  la localizaci\u00f3n subcelular de la prote\u00edna bgs3 est\u00e1 restringida a las zonas de crecimiento activo de la c\u00e9lula (polos y septo de divisi\u00f3n).
