Estos conflictos sociales los ha intuido la autora con toda claridad, dentro de sus novelas e innumerables relatos, constituyendo el argumento central de su obra, la realidad social de los el argumento central de su obra, la realidad social de los grupos que la habitan, y especificamente, la de la mujer. De la lectura de sus relatos, se desprende la idea de que estos, sin duda, responden a una descripcion clara y precisa de la represion psicologica que implica el colonialismo y de los infortunios que sufren individuos que viven en condiciones de marcada desigualdad social, mientras que, en relacion con las novelas, es evidente que estas ofrecen una confrontacion mas directa con un mundo historico-social, ademas de transmitir de una forma mas directa, la experiencia de una mujer de clase media en un mundo dividido por una fuerte discriminacion social.
