Aunque varios de los genes implicados en esta v\u00eda han sido identificados, todav\u00eda no se conoce el complejo mecanismo por el que la c\u00e9lula de saccharomyces cerevisiae detecta y responde a los niveles de glucosa.  esta tesis constituye una aportaci\u00f3n a este desconocido mecanismo mediante el estudio del papel que ejerce la prote\u00edna hexoquinasa 2 en esta v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n por glucosa. En presencia de glucosa la prote\u00edna hexoquinasa 2 (hxk2), normalmente residente en el citosol, es translocada al n\u00facleo donde impide la activaci\u00f3n de la transcripci\u00f3n de los genes reprimibles por glucosa hxk1, glk1 y suc2 y promueve la activaci\u00f3n de la transcripci\u00f3n de los genes inducidos por glucosa hxk2 y hxt1.  adem\u00e1s se demuestra el papel de un motivo heptam\u00e9rico, llamado sitio med8 encontrado en numerosos genes regulados por glucosa, en la uni\u00f3n directa con la prote\u00edna mediadora de la transcripci\u00f3n med8, tanto como mon\u00f3mero y como homod\u00edmero. Debido a que este sitio hab\u00eda sido previamente involucrado en la regulaci\u00f3n de la transcripci\u00f3n g\u00e9nica inducida por glucosa dependiente de hxk2, tambi\u00e9n se demostr\u00f3 una posible interacci\u00f3n entre ambas prote\u00ednas, hxk2 y med8. Nuestros resultados muestran que las prote\u00ednas hxk2 y med8 est\u00e1n f\u00edsicamente asociadas y que la interacci\u00f3n hxk2-med8 es de gran significancia fisiol\u00f3gica porque ambas prote\u00ednas han sido encontradas interaccionando juntas con fragmentos de adn conteniendo el sitio med8.  concluimos que hxk2 opera a trav\u00e9s del sitio med8, por interacci\u00f3n con med8 en la v\u00eda de transducci\u00f3n de la se\u00f1al por glucosa en saccharomyces cerevisiae. Tambi\u00e9n se ha llevado a cabo un estudio paralelo de interacci\u00f3n de hxk2 con otros factores que forman parte del sistema de transducci\u00f3n de la se\u00f1al
