Para ello, el hepatop\u00e1ncreas de mejillones procedentes de tres regiones costeras en espa\u00f1a fueron sometidos a diferentes procesos de separaci\u00f3n y determinaci\u00f3n del contenido de metales t\u00f3xicos (cd, hg) y esenciales (cu y zn) enlazados a las mlps.  de estos estudios se lleg\u00f3 a la conclusi\u00f3n de que estas prote\u00ednas eran inducidas cuando el nivel de metales t\u00f3xicos en el ecosistema era elevado. el an\u00e1lisis qu\u00edmico del agua, sedimento y tejido total del animal demostr\u00f3 que aquellos ecosistemas contaminados presentaban un nivel mucho m\u00e1s alto de mlps en el hepatop\u00e1ncreas de los mejillones que lo habitan. Por otro lado, se cuantific\u00f3 el contenido en cadmio unido a mlps a trav\u00e9s de diluci\u00f3n isot\u00f3pica inversa post-columna acoplada al icp-ms. Se demostr\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n el efecto protector del selenio frente a la inducci\u00f3n de mlps por metales pesados. Y&amp; se establecieron los elementos que se unen a estas prote\u00ednas cuando los mejillones fueron expuestos en acuario a 18 elementos qu\u00edmicos.  el aspecto m\u00e1s novedoso de esta tesis doctoral es la aplicaci\u00f3n de varias t\u00e9cnicas de separaci\u00f3n complementarias para especiar cd-mlps a niveles basales y el uso de esta informaci\u00f3n como una t\u00e9cnica de alarma para detectar la contaminaci\u00f3n real por metales pesados incluso en ecosistemas aparentemente libres de contaminaci\u00f3n.
