Se han estudiado dos especies de macrol\u00edquenes fruticulosos: ramalina bourgeana nyl., En la zona del cabo de gata, y teloschistes lacunosus (rupr.) Sav., En el desierto de tabernas.  los resultados obtenidos han permitido observar una importante relaci\u00f3n entre las caracter\u00edsticas anat\u00f3micas y morfol\u00f3gicas de las dos especies, sus relaciones h\u00eddricas, y las caracter\u00edsticas del medio en que se desarrollan.  el vapor de agua atmosf\u00e9rico es la principal fuente de hidrataci\u00f3n de la que dispone r.Bourgeana, mientras que para t.Lacunosus lo es el roc\u00edo. t.Lacunosus s\u00f3lo fue capaz de reactivar su metabolismo al estar en contacto con lluvia o roc\u00edo, pero no tras estar toda la noche en una atm\u00f3sfera con humedad relativa cercana a saturaci\u00f3n, pero sin roc\u00edo. En cambio r.Bourgeana s\u00ed es capaz de reactivar su metabolismo a partir del vapor atmosf\u00e9rico.  ambas especies presentan tambi\u00e9n adaptaciones morfol\u00f3gicas y estructurales encaminadas a un mejor aprovechamiento de las principales fuentes de hidrataci\u00f3n de las que disponen cada una de ellas. En t.Lacunosus la presencia de lacinias muy estrechas y ramificadas, cubiertas de una fina vellosidad, junto con la ausencia de c\u00f3rtez inferior, y la escasa capa medular, le permiten captar de forma r\u00e1pida las gotas de roc\u00edo que se forman en su superficie. A su vez, en su h\u00e1bitat natural, ralentiza las tasas de p\u00e9rdida de agua seleccionando aquellas exposiciones que tras la salida del sol mantienen durante m\u00e1s tiempo una t\u00aa y ppfd relativamente bajas y una elevada hr.  r. Bourgeana frecuentemente se desarrolla en los espolones de las rocas costeras.
