Hemos evaluado la capacidad de degradaci\u00f3n de clorobenzoatos cuando se utilizan como \u00fanica fuente de carbono y energ\u00eda, y cuando se cometabolizan en cultivos que utilizan como \u00fanica fuente de carbono principal. En todos los casos se observa que, si bien los cultivos crecidos en presencia de glucosa son capaces de deshalogenar de los substratos eficientemente, la tasa de deshalogenaci\u00f3n por unidad de masa del cultivo es mucho menor que en c\u00e9lulas creciendo a expensas del cloroarom\u00e1tico. Esto sugiere que las rutas est\u00e1n sometidas a represi\u00f3n catab\u00f3lica. En un intento de identificar las causas gen\u00e9ticas de las diferencias de sustrato utilizados por las distintas cepas, y la existencia de sistemas de represi\u00f3n catab\u00f3lica, hemos analizado la expresi\u00f3n de tres operones implicados en la degradaci\u00f3n de clorobenzoatos y (cloro) catecoles. Las dos cepas de p.Aeruginosa contienen copias pr\u00e1cticamente id\u00e9nticas de dos operones que codifican elementos de dioxigenasas de anillo arom\u00e1tico: i.Ohbab, que codifica la subunidades alfa y beta del componente dioxigenasa de una dioxigenasa de tres componentes implicada en el metabolismo de 2-clorobenzoato, y ii.Ohbabcdefgh, que incluye genes correspondientes a una segunda dioxigenasa de 3 componentes, prote\u00ednas de transporte y reguladores transcripcionales. Adem\u00e1s se ha obtenido evidencia de la presencia del oper\u00f3n clcabde, que codifica la ruta orto modificada de metabolismo de clorocatecoles.
